How to use this curriculum

 Instructors can take these lesson sheets to the barn, teach from them and then send them home with the student. Each lesson sheet contains a lesson outline along with info on how to ride this. On the back of the sheet there are activities for students to do at home, problem solving related to the skills in that particular lesson, tips for the rider and the instructor.  You will discover a beautiful picture language along with exercises to help the rider improve their riding skills. 

Step by Step Riding Levels

Step By Step riding's 8 levels  are based on Pony Club, Certified Horsemanship, United States Dressage Federation and Western Dressage Association of America levels. The skills required at each level with all of these associations are almost identical. Experts in this wide variety of fields agree that these are important steps to take to become a competent rider.

Riding Essentials for Everyone Lessons

These lessons are designed for all disciplines. No matter what discipline you are interested in, you need to be able to do these things. We recommend that you do the Essential lessons before other disciplines at each level. During the Essentials for Everyone lessons you will learn the skills necessary to participate in any of the other disciplines at that level.

Step by Step Disciplines

Once you have gone through the Essentials lessons at each level, we recommend that  you try other discipline lessons at that level. We have lessons on bareback,  dressage, drill team, games, garrocha, jumping, obstacles, vaulting and, unmounted Horsemanship .
